At the end of this month it will be that time again, as a boat and water sports enthusiast you can indulge yourself at the largest in-water boat show in Northern Europe during Hiswa te water. You can visit the event for no less than 5 days and enjoy the most beautiful and newest boats and boat accessories, demonstrations and nautical presentations.

There is music, there is interaction with other boat enthusiasts and there are plenty of ships, sloops and sailing yachts that you can view, step in and occasionally even sail. For example, there is the possibility to sail with a KNRM ship, and to participate in a sailing race across the IJsselmeer. Furthermore, there are the latest gadgets in the field of technology and design and various firsts are presented.

What does Hiswa mean?
Hiswa stands for Dutch Association for Trade and Industry in the field of Shipbuilding and Watersports, and was founded in Amsterdam by Dutch yacht builders and suppliers in 1932. Since 1978 an annual boat show has been organized in the first week of September. After having held the boat show in the Seaport Marina in IJmuiden for quite a few years, Hiswa te water was organized for 5 years at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam-Noord. For a number of years, from 2018, this largest water sports event has been taking place in the Bataviahaven in Lelystad.

Unique insight into numerous ships and new techniques
Presentations will be held during Hiswa 2022 and there will be interesting nautical debates. A live podcast of Vaarfun will be recorded, and the new ship of the Vaarwensin Foundation will be 3D printed during the fair. The foundation helps people with a hopeless illness and poor life expectancy to make their dream of sailing come true. Bids can be made on the 3D model of the ship, the proceeds will go to the Vaarwens foundation. The original ship of the Vaarwens Foundation is also in the harbor, which you can view and visit during Hiswa.
